Cool, fresh and comfy are three words I would always use when describing beaches in Naples. Some offer an infinite blue sky perfectly matched with a magnificent deep blue sea. What a beauty!!
Beaches are a great spot for relaxation or for having fun. You could simply sit with eyes closed and facing heavenward to reflect on events or turn up with your family and friends for a fun reunion. Whatever your reason is for visiting any in the city, you can be sure it would be satisfied.
In this article, I’ll bring to you my five (5) favourite beaches in Naples, what spectacular features make them stand out and how to easily get there.
First off, here’s one thing you need to know.
Endeavour to visit with your Naples pass
The Naples pass is a card for Naples public transport; it can also be used when visiting museums and similar attractions. As a tourist who plans to visit certain attractions, you will need to use public transport. An easy way to go around it is by getting the Naples pass.
You can purchase this pass while planning for your trip and activate it when you arrive.
Since its partnership with Campania Artecard, you have the option of a season ticket for the city’s public transport. The offer comes with discounts and reductions in the city’s main museums, attractions, restaurants, pizzerias and other partner activities.
Now you have your pass, let’s get to the beaches.
La Spiaggia Della Gaiola

The Gaiola beach is famous for its beautiful and iconic look. The beach is naturally divided into two parts. The park of Gaiola is located in the coastal landscape of Posillipo, which allows a variety of activities like; scuba diving and kayaking.
Visitors and tourists also love taking guided tours of the underwater archaeological park.
How to get there?
- Take the Metro line 2 in Garibaldi square and alight at the Mergellina station
- Take the bus 140 from the Leone square to Capo Posillipo
- The street on the left called Gaiola Descent brings you directly to the park.
Hint: coming from the Mergellina station, the Leone square is towards the seafront and after the Sannazzaro square.
Miseno and Miliscola beaches

Le beaches of Miseno and Miliscola offers you an admirable view of the islands of Ischia and Procida from all angles. One of the major characteristics of this beach is its fine sand.
The presence of DJs and live performers in the evenings ensures that citizens and tourists enjoy their relaxation to the full. You can choose to have fun in the free beach or simply relax with your friends and family in any of the bathing establishments.
How to get there (from the historic centre)?
- Take the Cumana of Naples at Montesanto station and alight at Lucrino station
- From here, buses run directly to the bathing area.
Lo Scoglione

It is also known as the big cliff of Marechiaro. It is a lovely place to swim in. It has a long cliff perfect for relaxation. A position on this vertical rock exposure is charming and you are permitted to bring umbrellas, chairs and packed launch.
Although entry is free, the space on the cliff is limited.
How to get there (from Garibaldi square)?
- Take the Metro line 2 in Garibaldi square and alight at the Mergellina station;
- Take the bus 140 from the Leone square and alight at the Posillipo-Rione primavera stop.
- To arrive on the cliff, join any of the local fishermen for five Euros.
Amalfi Coast: Bagni D’Arienzo

It is unsurprisingly known as the three hundred steps because the Arienzo beach is some 300 steps below the regular floor. The beach is a beauty to behold.
Many tourists love taking pictures and videos while on this step as the perspective displayed is really creative. I personally love the fact that this beach is never too rowdy.
How to get there?
- Take a SITA bus in the central station square;
- That’s all. You’re welcome.
Riva Fiorita

This beach is as beautiful as it is iconic. It is famous for the Villa Volpicelli, a red castle on its background. The castle is the location of the popular soap opera “Un posto al sole”, located near the fish restaurant Giuseppone a mare.
The Riva Fiorita has long been admired by tourists for its local historic features. It is often referred to as a secret beach because it is mostly reached through the sea.
How to get there?
- It is famously reached from the sea using a boat or a dinghy
- Otherwise, you could park along the via Ferdinando Russo and find you’re through the descent to the sea.
The beaches of Naples are a great part of the true Neapolitan heritage. Their splendid surroundings continue to attract citizens and tourists within and beyond the country every holiday season.
And as a reminder, when making visits to the beach, ensure you keep our beaches and our sea clean. This helps preserve the breathtaking views of our precious land.
If you are a visitor in Naples, ensure you don’t exit city without having a feel of the true Neapolitan beach.
You’ll thank me for it.
