If you are in Naples and you want to taste something that really leaves you breathless, surely you have to go “Da Gigione Macelleria & Hamburgeria“.
As can understand by the name, here you will find everything that your carnivorous palate desires (if you are a vegan, stay away, the people who frequent this splendid place, addicted to the great smell of roasted meat, could get confused and eat you too).
As my boyfriend is as greedy as a T-Rex, and I’m not far behind, we usually go to this Hamburgerery that never disappoints our expectations.
“Da Gigione” has two locations, both in Pomigliano d’Arco: one includes a Take-Away service (although you can still sit at the tables provided), and another provides a table service just like in a restaurant.
If you decide to go to Da Gigione be armed with patience. You will see, after a long wait due to a large number of people who frequent this place, you will be amazed by the quality of the products offered. If you do not like to wait, I suggest you avoid peak times and arrive no later than 19:30.
Let’s talk about meat
What to say … it is something exceptional, a pleasure with every bite. You will have the possibility to choose between different types of Italian beef of excellent quality, and you will be able to decide the degree of cooking. If you are a true meat lover, I advise you to order medium cooking as it is already in the blood or rather, if you are a daredevil, order it to the blood (it will almost bellow).
You will be able to compose your ideal sandwich with a vast choice, starting from bread to reach any kind of side dishes, sauces of their production, cheeses and much more.
The first time we went to Da Gigione, my fiancé and I created our ideal sandwich and, from that moment, we never had the courage to change the composition, not because we fear being disappointed (which is impossible), but because it is so good that we often talk about it in the bed, drooling with the memory of this riot of flavours. Your mouth will certainly be watering just by reading this review, so we decided to share our super sandwich with you:
- 220g Marchigiano Deluxe with strictly medium cooking,
- sesame seed sandwich,
- whiskey cheddar,
- crispy bacon (I swear, it creates absolute dependence),
- salad (to stay light),
- organic mustard and organic mayonnaise.
You don’t realize how good this mix of ingredients really is, order it, and you’ll see that you’ll thank me.
Since we are hard bones, before the sandwich we usually take some “little starter”. You absolutely must try:
- the meatballs that are delicious,
- the fries with sausage and sauces of your choice (try the onion one),
- the arancino,
- the omelette of pasta
- and the heart of parmigiana
- … in short, everything you can eat, but leave plenty of space for the sandwich.
You will also find a wide selection of beers and wines. We also recommend that if you are still hungry at the end of the meal, try the desserts: the Duplo is really delicious!
The prices are average but, compared to the quality offered, they are quite cheap. Da Gigione is absolutely a place to try, and that causes a strong dependence.
