Tenuta Don Sebastiano

This is the story of an adventure on a hot August Sunday. Me and my boyfriend, we started the experience looking for new places to explore and restaurants to try. Among various adventures and locals that didn’t particularly inspire us, we walked away quite a bit until we reached almost the bottom of Lazio.

Since it was getting very late and the stomach was beginning to grumble, we decided to go back to the front, heading back to Naples in the hope of finding a nice restaurant with affordable prices on The Form.

We then found Tenuta Don Sebastiano that looked nice from the photos and made it all the more appealing, and it was undoubtedly the 50% clash on the total bill. We then booked a table for 10.30pm and, with the help of the navigator, we set off towards our destination.

Leaving the motorway exit, we went on some roads quite dark and very little traffic. Since we have an adventurous spirit and my fiancé a fervent imagination, we began to think that in reality, the announcement on The Fork had been only a mirror for the larks and that, once they arrived in this ancient farm, someone would have made us to small pieces and throw in the stew.

Indeed the doubt came to me too, when at a certain point the navigator, in the middle of nowhere, tells us: “your destination is on the left” and believe me, on the left of this dark and tree-lined street there were only plants.

Disbelieved and a little frightened we continue 10 meters along the road to be able to turn around knowing that this evening we would have been fasting and hungry.

In making the manoeuvre, however, Antonio notices a small luminous sign with the name of the structure that introduced a driveway guarded by a wrought-iron gate. We then decide to enter and arrive after a few meters in a parking lot behind this old farmhouse.

Since we were quite fascinated, getting out of the car, we moved somewhat cautiously, not understanding if the structure was open or not. To make us jump suddenly was the sound of the cry of a child coming from a not well-defined place in the middle of the night.

With a little courage, and with our classic approved adventurer, we set out to discover this structure in the search for a waiter or any other person with good intentions.
Like a mirage, right behind the parking lot, we were presented with reality quite different from the one that our fervent imagination had created.

An amazing athmosphere

The child who was crying was with his parents to dine under a charming wooden porch, and other people were sitting and relaxing on a bench lit by lights and stars, and immediately the maid greeted us with a beautiful smile.
We also sat down on the porch to enjoy the night coolness.

The table was well laid out and to make it more beautiful, and it was the candle that created a very romantic atmosphere.

Romantic place close to Naples

As soon as we were seated, they offered us two flutes of a good prosecco and a plate with four fritters made of pasta (also delicious). The menu is not very large, but it is certainly satisfying in the various proposals that are not trivial and just reading it makes you hungry.

The Menu

We opted for 1 Don Sebastiano starter consisting of a platter of cold cuts plus the chef’s delicacies, to be divided into 2.

To our infinite surprise, we were served a cutting board made up of high-quality cold cuts and cheeses and besides, many different vegetable courses grilled and pan-fried (peppers, courgettes, roasted aubergines, fried green peppers and much more) and to finish off all a bean pan.

All very good and cooked in a homemade way, just like we like it. Antonio particularly enjoyed the peppers which were an explosion of flavours.

As a first course, we ordered tagliatelle with hazelnuts and bacon. The portions were abundant, the pasta was fresh and cooked to the right point, and the dressing was well balanced with the flavours that perfectly matched. Halfway through the dish, they were exploding, but as we are good food, we ate up to the last bite.
After dinner, they asked us if we wanted a bitter or a coffee. I chose an Amaro del Capo and my boyfriend, a Limoncello.

Happy Giuly in a Summer night

When we asked for the bill, we were aware of the fact that we would have paid little, but we were doubtful about the application of the discounts provided by The Fork because already in itself the prices were low.

The bill arrived, we were amazed:

  • One flute of prosecco and zeppole in tribute;
  • 1 San Sebastiano starter, two first courses, one bottle of sparkling water;
  • 1 Amaro del Capo, 1 Limoncello and the cover also these are free.

Guess how much we spent? The total bill was € 29.50 (which in itself is already an incredible price), but with the 50% clash, we paid only € 14.75.

The bill

It seemed like a dream to us, and we were almost ashamed to pay such a ridiculous amount given the quality of the products and service offered. We, therefore, congratulated the staff who, from the first moment, welcomed us with professionalism and friendliness.
Certainly, Tenuta Don Sebastiano is one of the best discoveries made on The Fork, and we will recommend it to all our friends.

A beautiful reality, young and who values the products of our land.

Surely we will be back.

Cheers mates!
